A Valentine Road Race
By

Death, you have an ugly face;

My valentine’s is so much prettier!

Damn you, I’ll beat you in a race,

To my valentines bed,

To bring about some grace

For sure, my love for my love will best you

I am ahead, no time to rest

My heart beats for

My dying valentine

Before I reach you

I beseech you

Stay alive!

I see you in a ring of fire,

although things seem so dire

as I look into your fevered eyes

so bright and tired

I see you awake, my tigress

Yes, still alive!

I am in time

To give you my love, my sweet valentine.

Let’s have a celebration, some sunshine

and forget this hurtful idea of funeral conflagration!

We can burn in flames of a different ilk,

What the hell,

Just give me a rebel yell!

So I know that you feel the glow,

despite this desperate show!
